Joanna Lane, Owner and Creative Director
Joanna Lane, Owner & Professional Home Stager – Top 10 Vacant Home Stagers Canada
Combining my creative background with a love of decorating I started Staged for Upsell, a home staging, interior redesign and event staging company.
I love my job! As a home stager I transform homes into beautiful spaces that appeal to buyer’s emotional needs, or work with decorating clients to create a space that they’ll love to call home. Either way, creating spaces that result in quick sales, or designing a space that showcases your personality and makes you love your home is what I do best.
I have been voted Top 10 Vacant Home Stagers in Canada by the Real Estate Staging Association. As a home stager I’ve staged a property for HGTV in 2015 for their Humble Home Series, and staged properties that have have sold for as much as 32,100 over asking. Good staging works! In the summer of 2016 I started staging and photo styling for Wicker Emporium. To have a look at some of the photo styling we’ve already done for Wicker Emporium click here.
Another passion I have is transforming old pieces of furniture or other vintage pieces. Taking an old unwanted vintage desk for example and refinishing it, or finding a vintage suitcase and making a side table out of it…yes, I love doing that in my spare time! I’m always working on something, and checking out antique shops searching for some cool pieces.
People ask me what my favourite design style is, I guess I’d have to say contemporary, however, I truly appreciate almost all design styles. I think that’s what makes me a great decorator – I can totally embrace the style of a home or a client’s style and create an amazing space. I’m not pigeon-holed into one style and unable to break through that! If you look at my portfolio you’ll notice just that, I can design many different styles. Stephanie LeRue, Home Stager, Decorator & Kitchen Designer
I have always had a passion for personalizing spaces, making them look and feel beautiful. From a young age I could be found in my room re- arranging furniture, creating pieces of art, and making sure all accessories “had their place”.
Growing up in a family that is heavily involved in the home building industry, one could say I was destined to be a part of it. Always being close to my family , I did not want to go away for school ( unfortunately Interior Design was not offered in our beautiful province at the time). Being creative I did the next best thing and began a career as a hair stylist! It was here I fully understood I needed a larger canvas to work on! I found myself back at school to study Interior Decorating and never looked back!
For the last 4 years I have been focused primarily on Custom Kitchen Design, and have been lucky to have had the opportunity to work with many talented individuals who have helped shape me into the successful Interior Decorator I am today. I love all aspects of design, and appreciate all styles and tastes. I believe that communication is key to executing the best design- but some fun needs to be had along the way!
Tasia Craig, Design Assistant
I never would have imagined myself staging homes but I’m so glad I am. I live and breathe design and have for as long as I can remember. I moved from the west coast of Canada to Halifax to study planning, architecture, and design at Dalhousie University. After graduating with a design degree I still wasn’t sure which area of design I wanted to work in but after meeting Joanna and working in home staging I can now say I couldn’t be happier. I get to use so many of the skills I have learned over the years and bring my own unique experiences to the table. In addition to having worked in the floral industry I have experience in architecture. In 2015 I worked abroad as a designer at an architecture firm in Copenhagen, Denmark. While living there I was able to visit eight other European countries and experience a range of unique cultures and approaches to design. The Scandinavian way of life and design aesthetic hooked me and I often try to incorporate it into my work. I am a DIYer at heart and fill my spare time with anything and everything creative – from painting, to organizing, to pouring concrete. I like to always be problem solving and using the creative side of my brain, and I’m grateful that home staging allows me to do that everyday.
